We crossed the Firth on Wednesday, in the nick of time missing the first big storm of Autumn, with Orkney buffeted by gales, and ferry crossings cancelled.
Much more clement in the south, with trees spectacular in their autumn colours.
We met up with Lynn for a meal in North Queensferry, where we were also able to see the progress of the new road bridge - a massive engineering project.
